Analysis Many companies utilize specialist geological data sets (biostratigraphy, geochemistry, porosity permeability etc) in their exploration projects. Often these digital data sets are provided by contractor laboratories with interpretation reports. The digital data are copied to the client folders but the source of these data is lost as the data gets utilized in different studies.

GIMS Analysis is an optional module in GIMS Suite which allows users to view and export various analytical data sets:

The Analysis Module has the following features
  • Access analytical data via GIS front end
  • Filter maps to show where analytical data are available
  • Store data sets from multiple data sources
  • Link data back to data source (view reports from which data generated)
  • Store data for both wells and field samples
  • Build and plot data summary charts
  • Export data in user required formats
  • Save export templates once defined
  • Import data using customized import formats
  • Save and re-use import templates
  • Search and query data using advanced search in Explorer module
Analysis currently captures and stores the following geological data sets:
  • Biostratigraphy
  • Geochemistry
  • Sample Lithology

However the following additional data sets will be added in 2009:

  • Petrography
  • Core Analysis
  • Special Core Analysis

Digitising Specialist Data Sets

Although most laboratories now supply data in digital format many companies have large legacy data sets in hard copy format. Horizon provides a service to efficiently and cost-effectively digitize hard-copy data for loading to GIMS or 3rd party software. The data digitizing service incorporates double data entry techniques to avoid errors using data entry software developed by Horizon. Experienced technical staff supervise this work to ensure quality data sets are generated.
